REMEMBER WHEN HALLOWEEN WAS FOR KIDS?
Those days are long gone, now Halloween is for adults and parties start happening weeks before the actual date. Yet one group of thespians celebrates Halloween year round.
ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO is the latest edition of THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE. It is beginning its second year run and this year will have a special Halloween Party- that spills into the Liar's Club already outrageous party. The play runs at The Liar's Club on Friday and Saturday nights through Saturday Nov 21th. Unique because BRIDES has many editions. Unique because it's a zombie and ghost show in a punk rock bar. Unique because it re-creates the supernatural stories of Chicago from the women's point of view and now unique because it has music from Svengoolie! Doors open at 8PM, show starts at 8:15PM. Zombies Launch Movie Channel!
This weekend begins ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO, the latest edition of THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE. Even if you've seen the show before you'll be amazed at the changes that have occured. Come see at THE LIAR'S CLUB, 1665 W Fullerton Friday and Saturday at 8PM. Show starts at 8:15. Free parking both sides of the street, $10 admission.
Writer/ producer/ director Michael Flores has for 25 years run the Psychotronic Film Society, a celebration of B-movies, trash pop culture with events that have made national news. Everyone from RUSS MEYER, CLIVE BARKER, H.G. LEWIS, STUART GORDON, BRUCE CAMPBELL, JOHN CLEESE and many others have been guests at the show. To give you scary, bizarre and cool things to look at Mike has launched a YouTube network with 4 channels! Now you can celebrate the scary and the cool 24/7! MOVIE MADNESS has loads of full length kung fu, monster, psycho killer movies! Plus tons of trailers and a few weird cartoons. TV OR NOT TV has punk and garage bands appearing on TV, horror stars on TV and some TV shows as well. ROCK 'N PSYCHO has monster music, scary songs and dark realms to explore. Well, ok, it's the only zombie play in Chicago right now. THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE: ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO, starts this weekend at the liar's Club, 1665 W. Fullerton Ave 773- 665- 1110. No reservations needed. Doors open at 8PM, show starts at 8:15. Admission is $10.
I went in search of a Illinois zombie story and boy did I find one! Kaskaskia, Illinois was the first capital of Illinois and like much of the state was settled by missionaries. I found the story of an illicit love affair that ended in a horrendous murder. A story of a Native American curse, and a flood that rose the dead from their graves. THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE: ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO with special song parodies written by SVENGOOLIE is the latest and best edition which is only 4 performances away from a one year run.
The cast is available to re-create the stories, do a fashion feature on zombie make-up and how to turn your clothes into zombie clothes, or be interviewed.

NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES PARTY
THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE: ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO will be hosting a Night Of The Zombies celebration on Friday September 18th. The world's only glam ghost show at a punk rock bar will be celebrating one year of scares with a special Best Zombie Contest picking the best guy and ghoul zombie. There will be prizes, and the show even boasts songs by TV horror host Svengoolie.
The Liar's Club is at 1665 W Fullerton, there is free parking both sides of the street. Doors open at 8PM, show starts promptly at 8:15. There are no reservations needed, admission is $10. ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO runs Fridays and Saturdays beginning September 4th and running until Saturday Nov 21. You must be 21 to attend, but you can drink during the shows! How cool is that?

Svengoolie is the 7 time local Emmy award winner aka Rich Koz. He was the writer and comedy crime partner of Jerry G. Bishop, the original Svengoolie and on June 16 in 1979 Koz became the Son Of Svengoolie. He plays many characters while showing fabulous b movies such as Zallman T. Tombstone, a wise cracking skull and he introduced Svensurround. He would appear in the corner of the picture frame and make fun of the movies being shown, long before Mystery Science Theater by the way. The creators of that show were from Illinois by the way. Hmmmmmm.
On January 7th in 1995 Son Of Sven became Svengoolie. In 2003 Rich began hosting STOOGE-A-PALOOZA along with his horror host chores. This may actually be the first time someone has sang Svengoolies songs that could sing!

JOHN DILLINGER EDITION COMES TO AN END, ZOMBIES BUILT CHICAGO WITH PARODY MUSIC BY SVENGOOLIE COMING!
First off I'd like to thank the BBC, WLS Channel 7 news, The Chicago Tribune, WGN Radio, WBEZ, Metromix, WIND Radio, Red Eye for their coverage of THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE: JOHN DILLINGER EDITION. With the BBC coverage that means my shows, low budget and in off the wall places have been covered by PLAYBOY MAGAZINE, PLAYBOY CABLE CHANNEL ( they did a documentary on the making of one of my plays that still runs and hosted a party for me) and The New York Times without me leaving. That my work has been noticed outside Chicago is something I'm very happy about. Ideas can beat money, critics and grant run groups.
The final performance of THE BRIDES OF GHOST HUNTER RICHARD CROWE: JOHN DILLINGER EDITION will be Saturday August 29th. Friday and Saturday nights at 8PM doors open show starts at 8:15. Zombies are huge in America. There is a best seller book OF PRIDE, PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES. There are zombie marches and zombie pub crawls that the people who are involved make themselves up as the undead. There are zombie games, kids play zombie the way kids use to play cowboy and Indians.
So imagine my surprise when I discovered there was a Native American curse, an illicit love and the Illinois militia sent to battle the undead in a flooded town in the 1800's......right here in Illinois!
